About
Alderman Ric McIver
Ric McIver was elected to his first term as Alderman for
Ward 12 in October 2001 and brings to office a long history
of community service. He was acclaimed to his second term in
2004 and was re-elected with a 91% plurality in 2007.
Ric has a strong background in business, marketing and
distribution and has owned and operated two companies in
Calgary, over the past 16 years.
Ric has recognized rural sprawl as well as urban sprawl as
long term issues to be conquered. He has moved and approved
the most forward thinking development conditions to date in
SE Calgary, requiring recycling facilities to be built into
the community, and for higher density development close to
transit and employment opportunities.
Ric has made the drive for fiscal accountability and
legislative transparency hallmarks of his time at City Hall.
To enhance public confidence in City government, he has
proposed creating a whistle blower program and a role for an
independent City Auditor and an Ethics Commissioner. |
